Right wing media's manipulation

Right wing media's manipulation

The fourth episode of the podcast "The United States of Anxiety" deals with th equestion why people support Donald Trump. They try to understand the background of Trump-voters and talk about the media's impact on the election and the general midset of the people. They focus especially on the right wing media.

It is interesting how emotional people get when talking about Trump or while watching him talking on e.g. TV. Donald Trump sais things like "We cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore." or "It's us against the world." which sounds like someone who is part of a suppressed minority is speaking during a historical moment like a revolution, but it's just a homophobe, sexist an political incorrect man. It seems that emotions are just more powerful than actual facts and that is used by the media and in Trumps statements.

Trump promises to "break up the old order" but only gives very vague information on his plans, which should alarm the people to not vote for him. The people are desperate for a change, because they feel threatened by statements like "immigration brings deíseases", which are spread through the media. It seems like people are influenced by rumors e.g. against immigrants even though they are completely wrong.
